Batch processing applying a computer program to several similar things without operator intervention. For example, if you are preparing photographs to send by email you may want to reduce their size so they are easily viewed on a computer screen. You can do this by resizing each picture one at a time or you can start some programs that, once started, will do all of them at once without you having to do anything more. This all-at-once way is batch processing.
