usually its the pressurised telescopic arm on the boot lid needs replacing you are taking the weight of the boot lid with no assistance of the telescopic arm
The boot lid is held open by the gas struts. One or both of yours is faulty.

Under the black felt cover of the boot lid. Look for a small, wired, white plastic, part clipped to the boot lid near the locking mechanism, which contains a part which moves up and down, completing the (earth) circuit to turn the light on when the boot lid is raised.

If it's the brake light in the boot lid then you have to take the cover off the inside of the boot lid and then you will have access to the light bulbs. If it's the brake light in the rear quarter panel then you open boot lid and unscrew the two bolts holding the light cluster and slide it backwards, then you will have access to the bulbs
