The boot lid is held open by the gas struts. One or both of yours is faulty.

undo the 2 plastic screws at the back of the light the whole light unit comes off then.
There is a small micro switch located within the door of the boot somewhere? if this is faulty it will release the boot by itself. I think it is located either behind the boot door internal panel or behind the exterior boot door handle you press to open.
go to the boot, get at the back of the light and pop 1 of the clips out with a flat head screwdriver, then just line up the 4 bits when replacing!
Try looking at the wires at the top by the hinges of the boot lid. the wires are inside a rubber sleeve and they are known to break, hence no brake lights

in the boot where the back of lights are you will peel back a cover.disconnect the wiring plug then use a flat screwdriver depress the lugs at the top/bottom of the light unit and then be careful and push the unit out from the boot.Be ware that it doesnt fall out onto the road.
