Inside the wheel well there is a small cover plate with 2 plastic screws which must be turned a quarter turn. The plate then comes out. Pull the plug off the back of the bulb. There is then a plastic collar which must be turned counter clockwise. To install, do the same in reverse.

How do you adjust a hand brake on a citreon xsara?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The handbrake cables are adjusted by a nut behind the handbrake lever.

Basically remove the centre console section of interior between the two front seats, its fairly easy to do this. Then jack up back of the car and place on axle stands so both wheels are off the floor (remembering to take relevant safety precautions, like putting car into gear, and chocking front wheels for example).

Once this interior trim is removed, pump the brake pedal a few times, then pull handbrake lever up and back down 10 times.

Now pull up handbrake lever to the first 'click' on ratchet, take a deep socket on a ratchet (cant remember size sorry, possibly 13mm but not sure) and tighten the nut on the thread, then go and check if the wheel can or can't spin. Don't over tighten and release nut again a bit if need be, you want to be able to just turn the wheel by hand when on first click.

How do you change the air filter on a 1.6hdi 110 HP Citroen Picasso?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The air filter is the black box at the back of the engine. You will see the turbo intake pipe that comes from the airbox lid to the turbo. Undo the jubilee clip at the turbo and remove the pipe, then pull out the rocker cover breather. Now that these are free remove the 2 Allen bolts from the front edge of the airbox and the other bolt at the right hand side. The lid should now lift off the box. You can now remove the old filter and replace with the new filter. To replace the airbox lid feed tongues into rear wall of airbox body and then close lid. Now reinsert Allen bolts and reconnect rocker cover breather and turbo pipe.

Depends on the exact model, but in my 2001 Pic 2.0HDi it is number 40 in the fusebox in the fascia on the driver's side. No. 40 is the very top left, and if I recall correctly it is the only 40A fuse in the box.

How do I remove the rear light cover on Citroen Xsara Picasso 04?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Open the boot.
Look behind the brake light in the interior, you will see a section of boot lining about 5cm square that can fold open. Open this towards you.
You will see a square of grey foam, pull that out.
Now you can see the wires going into the back of the light, shine a torch downwards in here and you will see a shiny metal clip that latches the light (red plastic) into a square metal

hole of the car body. Using a screwdriver lever this clip up and outwards.
This will release the bottom of the light. From outside the car pull the light cluster down and away from the vehicle to release the top clip. Disconnect the wiring plug from the lights and unclip the bulb board from the light cluster to access the bulbs. Once the light is reassembled just push it back into the hole making sure it is lined up properly to refit.

How do you Change a headlight on a citroen xsara?

User Avatar

Asked by Rayner72

I have just replaced the nearside headlamp in my Xsara Picasso (2001) and after some headscratching I did it so I feel quite pleased. So much so I thought I'd pop down a few words here.

First gently pull out the electrical connector gripping the square plastic body not the wires (!). Might need a wiggle.

Next carefully prise up the robber boot cover thingy - get your fingernails under the edge of it and it should pull away. Pull it off the back of the bulb as well so it is entirely free and put it somewhere safe.

Next, the tricky bit, getting the old lamp out. I fiddled about with fingers of both hands to no avail. So I got a screwdriver and pushed down with the blade carefully on the bare wire that hooks under the fitting. A little pressure will cause it to depress and pop out and away. You hinge it up clear of the back of the lamp and then retrieve the lamp. Keep the wire bit out of the way.

Carefully unbox the new lamp - DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS - hold by the metal end and pop it into the gap in the headlamp housing keeping the glass bulb clear of the sides etc. Wiggle/rotate it into place.

That done bring over the bare wire clip thingy and firmly push down and it should ping into place locking the bulb in place.

Put the rubber boot thing back on. Then firmly but carefully push in the electrical connector - this may need some aligning.

Before you close the bonnet switch on the headlights to check you have done it right!

Check the oil and water levels while you're at it!

Close bonnet, lock car and go back in the house and boast to your family what a clever chap you are not letting on you read how to do it on the web!

Maybe someone will post a video on YT on how to do this....
