Back wash valve when the pressure before the filter becomes to high usually indicated in red on the gauge the filter needs to be back washed.
Usually in line with the return line to the pool. Hatawa
How do you back flush a pool filter?
There is no filter at the bottom of a pool. Perhaps you are looking at the hydrostatic valve which is there in case your pool is emptied and Will make sure that the pool wont float in ground water.
Need more specific info A multi valve pool filter is a common configuration of valve and filter for a swimming pool system. The piping into and out of the filter is attached to a multivale. A multivalve has has several positions. One type of multi valve has six positions: backwash, waste, filter, closed, rinse and recirculate. (These valve positions are used on a DE filter. A sand filter may be different.) Use the filter setting in the nromal operation of your pool. This setting receives water from the pump and directs it to the dirty side of the filter media and then receives weater from the clean side and directs it to the pool. Use the Backwash setting to flush the DE from the filter and to a drain. Use the waste setting to flush water directly from the pump to the drain. The closed position is, well, closed. Rinse? Recirculate?
intex sand filter is not working on filter only working on recirculate position.....what should we do
Backwash valve is leaking by. More than likely it is a bad oring inside the valve. Or it was not place back into recirc mode completely. or you may have a leak on the return side of the filter. That includes all the plumbing from the filter or heater to the pool. The back wash valve may be obvious if the waste line ends close by. The back wash valve should be placed in the "filter" mode not the "recirculation" mode. K
The best way would be to unplug the swimming pool filter, open the drain valve on your pool filter turn the pump back on and drop the water level to the desired level about 2 inches above the skimmer.
This is (obviously) important, given that you could ruin your filter or send contaminated water back into your pool. Don't be cheap. Buy a new multiport valve.
Should be set to Filter in normal circumstances, if particularly soiled, set to waste to save excessive dirt in filter.
Hmmm, do you possibly mean the back wash valve on the filter? This valve has many positions to choose from especially for sand filters. Filter, back wash, drain, drain to waste, filter bypass, closed. They are pretty much self explanatory. Normal position would be the "filter" position while the pump is running and the filter is working. Ken
The salt system has nothing to do with D E returning to the pool. You have a damaged filter element or a bad o-ring or seal in the back wash valve. You have to disassemble the filter and remove the filter grid assy to determine damage to grids. k
If you're trying to clear up a murky pool, then the only option you have is to filter, back-wash, and add more DE and filter, BW, add more DE, until the water is clear.Try to scoop out as much debris out of the water as you can, top and bottom, and keep the bottom drain clear. You may be able to do a partial drain and refill.
