You didn't provide a lot of information, but my guess is that its denomination is shown as $1000. That's 1000 pesos, not dollars - Mexico uses the same symbol that we use for dollars but it refers to their money, not U.S. coins.
If the coin is from circulation and is dated some time in the period 1980-1992, the answer to its value is "not much". The peso's value was driven down by inflation so much that the government replaced it with a so-called "new peso" at the rate of 1000 to 1. That means an old 1000-peso coin is worth only one new peso, about a dime at current exchange rates.

1 Mexican peso (MXN)= 0.0678 US dollars (USD). (Conversion as of Dec 2014)
Mexican money and us money are very different. for one they both have different names. and they both don't have the same value. Mexican money is worth less then us money.
If you go to Mexico, you can spend Canadian dollars at a 10x1 conversion rate (ten Pesos equal one Canadian dollar). The actual conversion rate is about 12x1, but it changes fairly frequently. You can look it up on a site like xe.com.
Information about Mexican coins and currency, both past and present, can be found at Coin Quest, Coin Rack and Coinflation. The World of Coins website has images of Mexican currency that can be used as a reference.

Money is a mass noun because it cannot be pluralised. A count noun like "coin" can be pluralised - one coin, two coins, etc. However, you can't say "one money, two monies".
