Conductors of electricity are materials that let electricity pass through them. A good conductor of electricity is something that allows electricity to flow smoothly. Some conductors include silver, copper, gold, aluminum, and calcium.

In general, the best conductors of electricity are metals, which share their valence electrons loosely; thus, allowing them to move freely. Usually, the fewer valence electrons (electrons in the outermost orbit), the better the conductor. But, there are some exceptions, such as: aluminum (has 3 valence electrons) is a better conductor than platinum (has only 1 valence electron). Silver is the best conductor; however, it's very expensive, so copper or aluminum are used in most wiring applications. Gold is not as good a conductor (Higher resistivity) as either Copper or Silver, but is less prone to corrosion, and so is used in hostile enviromnets, or for connectors; as well, but it has a relatively low melting point, giving it a tendency to melt.

A good non-metal conductor is carbon, but only when it's in the form of graphite. Tap water is another good, non-metal conductor.

It's worth remembering that the Manhattan Project, which ran during World War II, needed the best possible conductors for the magnetic cores they were designing. So, they requisitioned several TONS of silver from the US Treasury for the war effort.

Well according to my knowledge, all metals are good conductors of electricity.

There is 1 non-metal that is also a good conductor of electricity, that is the material that is made for your pencil lead that you put in your mechanical pencil to write. It is made of graphite. That is all I know. Please add more if you know anything that I had missed out. Thank you and welcome for answering your question anonymously.

In a conductor, electric current can flow freely, in an insulator it cannot. Metals such as copper typify conductors, while most non-metallic solids are said to be good insulators, having extremely high resistance to the flow of charge through them.

Metals are good conductors of electricity, with silver being the best. Graphite and solutions of ionic compounds are also good.

Generally speaking, metals conduct electricity with copper being a very good conductor of electricity. Carbon can also conduct electricity.

What kind of matter is electricity?

Electricity is the movement of electrons. In metals, which are good conducters of electricity, electrons are "delocalised", which means that they are not held tightly by the nuclei of the metal's atoms, and are free to flow from the negative end of, say, a circuit with a metal wire, to the positive end.

carbon rods are good at conducting electricity because of the electrons in its outer shell. the electrons move easily. graphite and carbon rods are the only conducters which are not metal

In the solid state generally no. In solution or molten when the ions ra efree to move in an electric field, they can be reasonable conductors
