In captivity a coyote could live a long life of 18years. Because in captivity they are very well taken care of, and they are fed properly and are most of the time never sick. Because of this a coyote can have a long life, depends on the owner.
In some areas, coyotes can live eight to 12 years. In areas where they are hunted, or in populated areas like southern Ontario where vehicle collisions are common, the average life expectancy is less than five years.
The average lifespan of a wild coyote is six to eight years. However, coyotes in captivity can live twice as long.
