Iodine ( I2 ) the fourth halogen (after F2 ,Cl2 -both gases- and Br2 -liquid- )
Iodine has a shiny, dark grey, metallic look (but it is not a metal) with crystal forms which subliMATES to violet vapour.
It is slightly soluble in water, better in a Iodide solution (to form I3- complex ions) and in ethanol (red-brown tincture)
The substance you are describing is likely iodine. Iodine is a dark grey solid that can sublime directly from a solid to a vapor without going through the liquid state. When iodine sublimes, it forms a violet vapor.
In order for something to be considered a change some sort of change must occur. A crystal is an object, not a type of change. Dark violet iodine crystals are pieces of relatively pure elemental iodine.
Bacteria are those that are stained dark blue or violet by Gram Staining.
fluorine, chlorine, bromine, all are coloured. fluorine is pale yellow, chlorine is greenish, and bromine is reddish brown. these three make up the first three halogens in the 7th group of the periodic table.
Not known but very probable a dark color.
Magenta is one of the three secondary colours: a mix of red and blue.
No, violet is a shade of purple, dark violet would just simply be called dark violet or dark purple.
Not sure what you're looking for here. Astatine is not "expected" to be any colour. It *is* a black crystalline solid, if one can keep it as a solid long enough to have a good look. It sublimes (translates from a solid to a gas) quite readily at STP. Perform a Google image search if you wish to see it. Cheers!
It is a violet-dark grey As a gas iodine is violet, as solid is very brown. The color in solutions depends on the solvent - the ethanolic solution is brown. The melted iodine is also brown.
Dark violet/Indigo (Dark blue-purple).
dark, dark purple
Iodine is purple. As a gas iodine is approx. violet or purple, as solid is very brown.Brown if no starch on plant. Dark blue if there is starch on plant.
red and blue colours make violet colour
When you mix red and violet it turns into a dark dark red like a blood color.
Dark magenta
VIOLET!
Pink and a dark dark Blue
They are very similar. Indigo is basically a very dark violet.
