FAT is a file system used by MS-DOS and other Windows-based operating systems to organize and manage files. The file allocation table (FAT) is a data structure that Windows creates when you format a volume by using the FAT or FAT32 file systems. Windows stores information about each file in the FAT so that it can retrieve the file later.
difference between serch data structure and allocation data structure
FAT means file allocation table its a index table whose copy is kept in hard disk for its reference its updates when ever data in entered to hard disk
Three key issues we have to consider: • Data Allocation: where are data placed? Data should be stored at site with "optimal" distribution. • Fragmentation: relation may be divided into a number of sub-relations (called fragments) , which are stored in different sites. • Replication: copy of fragment may be maintained at several sites.
A look up table, is what it say, a list of data that is used in programing of micro controllers, it is a table that the program use to look up data that it need to do the job, it is a list of data and each data item is associated with a index, in other words where in the table it is, look at the examples at this link. http://patenttrade.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=21#21
Create a backup of the data Verify the integrity of the backup Verify that enough disk space is available
A record is equivalent to a row in a database, a collection of fields that are associated.
fat stands for "file allocation table" it is a table that basically reads like an address book of sectors on a hard disk, so that data can be written to and read from using its address space. Was quite waseful of space as hard drives got larger so NTFS was introduced to compensate for increased disk size and journaling (recovery)
a data table is a table to place your observations
This is where you allocate the data that you have. This gives you the opportunity to have everything in order.
When a deletion is made from a FAT (File Allocation Table), it is not actually deleted from the computer. It remains in the computer, but not accessible until other data takes its place.
Tables are used to provide reference to comparative data when individual comparisons are not possible or preferable. In a database, a table provides the value associated with two (or more) separate inputs.
