A thin plastic substance that is painted over teeth as an anti-cavity measure to seal out food particles and acids produced by bacteria.
First you clean the teeth, then you isolate, prime and etch
Liquid rubber has a number of uses. For example, it can be used as a roof sealant or to make molds. It's sealant properties are useful in making medical devices such as dental molds.
I have never seen one after placing hundreds of them over the past 30 years, nor have I read anything in the research or performance evaluation literature regarding that type of response. It is possible, however, to experience a slight, temporary chemical burn from the etching gel used to prep the tooth surface for the sealant, or an allergic reaction to the operator's latex gloves. I would advise the practitioner of your experience so it can be examined and noted in your chart.
It is a thin substance placed on a prepared tooth before adding a composite filling or a sealant. It's purpose is to make the finishing product stick. :)
The best sealant for water leaks in a home is a waterproof silicone sealant.
Acetone dissolves Stan's sealant.
The most effective method for removing silicone sealant using a silicone sealant remover is to apply the remover directly onto the sealant, let it sit for the recommended amount of time, and then use a scraper or brush to gently remove the softened sealant.
The best sealant for leaking pipes is a waterproof silicone-based sealant specifically designed for plumbing repairs.
No sealant is used in that application.
When using a new pan gasket, no sealant is necessary. Using sealant on a automatic transmission pan gasket is a bad idea, excess sealant can cause trouble.
There are no long term effects of etching the teeth before sealant application. The etchant is a strong acid that dissolves the matrix material between the enamel rods that make up the tooth. It is rinsed off within seconds and leaves the tooth with a frosty appearance when dried. The nature of a resin dental sealant is that it requires a mechanical bond with the tooth, this mechanical bond is achieved between the sealant material and the enamel rods. In the case the tooth was "over etched" that is to say the sealant material is not covering the entire etched surface of the tooth, the minerals in the saliva, and topical fluoride rebuild that area of the tooth to make it as sound as it was before the procedure. The Chevrolet water pump bolts do need a sealant. Thread tape can be used on the bolts in the place of a sealant.
