The best sealant for water leaks in a home is a waterproof silicone sealant.
Do not use sealant on the head gasket. I use permatex on the threads of the bolts that go into water jackets.
Drain the water from your Chevrolet 5.7 liter engine cooling system. Remove the water pump return hose. Remove the water pump belt. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.
To install a thermostat: The engine should be cool. 1. Put down an appropriate pan to catch leaking coolant. 2. Follow the upper radiator hose to the water outlet. That is usually where the thermostat is. 3. Remove the bolts that hold the water outlet in place. The thermostat will be under or inside it. 4. Remove the old thermostat. 5. Clean any sealant or rust away from both mating surfaces. 6. Place new thermostat with appropriate gasket in the housing. Use sealant as necessary. 7. Put the water outlet back on and tighten the bolts. 8. Replace any coolant that was spilled or refill the radiator. 9. Check for coolant leaks.
The water from your 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier cooling system. Remove the heater core water supply hoses. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
Drain the water from your 1997 Chevrolet Lumina cooling system. Remove the water supply lines to your heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
Drain the water from your 1995 Chevrolet Corsica cooling system. Remove the water supply hose from the top of your thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Lift the old thermostat out and drop in the new thermostat.
You do not need to add a sealant to the gasket. Just make sure you torque the bolts to factory specs.
I changed a Water Pump first by draining the Coolant and there are some bolts that need to be loosened to take the Water Pump off. Make sure you a Gasket on the New Water Pump and use sealant to prevent Coolant leakage.
A tinted water-repellant sealant is the best for a wooden deck, as it protects the wood from water and the tint provide UV ray protection, thereby increasing the life of the sealant.
