"A fundamental element of an Eco Tour is the education of environmental issues such as, the protection of Natural Resources or endangered species, usually relevant to the destination. This may be conducted through lectures, involvement in conservation projects or simply by learning from a knowledgeable tour guide."

In that sense, then every cruise ship that sails to the Antarctic is an ecotour, because every cruise ship holds lectures and otherwise educates the passengers about the natural world visible from Antarctic waters.

However, no land-based projects are conducted by these tours. But all passengers are expected to follow the maxim: 'pack it in, pack it out'.
