For other federal laws, and for many state laws, there will be other definitions of "firearm" that may include antique guns or black-powder muzzle-loading guns. For example, Georgia's law that makes it unlawful for convicted felons to possess firearms will also include black powder guns, antiques, and other collector's items as "firearms."
