It's a safety device that " breaks " the electrical circuit to the electric fuel pump if
your Explorer receives a substantial jolt , such as a collision or maybe hitting a really
bad pothole . That way no power is flowing to the electric fuel pump and the fuel
pump stops running until the switch is manually reset if there are no gas leaks
In my Ford Explorer , the glove compartment is in the dash , in front of the right front passenger , and has a door that can be opened
If you mean the ECC computer that is located on the passenger side floor kick panel(right below the glove box and to the right)
Behind the dash...you have to remove your glove compartment door, be careful not to set off the passenger air bag.

The powertrain control module (PCM) is visible from the engine compartment. It passes through the firewall on the passenger side. The wiring is on the engine side of the firewall and the body of the PCM is inside the Explorer located behind the glove compartment.
You can see the wiring harness to the POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE ( PCM ) in the engine compartment , on the firewall , on the passenger side . The rest of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment
i also have a 1993 star found mind when i had to change my fuel filter located behind the passenger side kick panel under the glove compartment good luck.
