A 305 is a good engine, it has a 4 inch bore like the 350 so can take all the good heads etc. You might consider making it a 383 stroker. Except crank rode length etc you have same block now as 350. It depends on how much power you want and how much you want to change. you could go with a big block like a 454/396/502 but then suspension mods etc accessories cooling improvements, trans all have to be redone adding to the cost. You will save a lot of money staying with a small block and if you want brute cubes you can get an aftermarket small block with more than 500 cubic inches from a place like summit and still have the weight savings over a big block same power and less to modify.
Its not a brand new engine so its going to be a little less than factory rated. A good estimate would be around 18-23 depending on if its highway or street.

That engine came factory in the 87 camaros. It is not a junk engine but it is NOTHING special either. So I guess you could say it is a all right engine.

engine shoudl be a 350, no good record of how many were made
120 P.S.I. is acceptable low, 130 is good 135 is factory startup/breakin period required.
yes, but it's not recommended or good for the engine. 5w30 is the factory recommended oil. it's not as thick, where 10w40 will likely clog the engine.
on the bottom of the car just below the hatch is.. on the very bottom of the car below the back THE FUEL pump in a 1984 300zx is inside the fuel tank. These factory fuel pumps are very good and almost indestructable.
The Volkswagen factory warranty is 3 years / 100,000 miles. With proper maintenance it will last much longer.
That car with a good engine is worth aprox $6000 retail depending on body style and accessories. To replace the engine with a factory rebuild would probably cost you $5000. So, take $500 and run.
