AVG is the best anti-virus software that you can get for free. Malware Bytes is also a great anti-malware program to use. If you are looking to buy the software, then AVG premium is a good choice.
There are many free anti-malware downloads available online. Some of them work better than others so it is sometimes good to try more than one. A good one to try is Trojan Killer.
"Spybot is a good free program. You can download is free and it is easy to use. It offers protection against adware and malware, and offers other benefits as well."
Two of the best anti malware scan at present are Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Superantispyware
I would strongly recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It is a free software application that allows you to clean your PC and prevent it from malware. There is also a paid version with more advanced features if you like this software, it protects your computer nonstop from the moment it is turned on.
Yeah I tried this but i was not satisfied with this so i moved on to comodo and therefore now my pc free from All Malware, Spyware, Viruses and Trojans.
COMODO delivers free of charge firewalls and anti-virus software (and some paid-for services that might be interesting for companies). There's also Malware Bytes (which is free) and CCleaner (not technically an anti-virus, but another free program that can help you keep your computer clean and organised).
I believe that if you are simply browsing and not actually going to the site, there is little to no chance of any virus and/or malware reaching your computer. Even with that said it's still a good idea to get an antivirus program(s) I'd recommend AVG Free Edition and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

It's OK, but it is slow and expensive. I would recommend AVG Free which can be found online, for free (duh). Along with this, I would recommend the following anti-malware and anti-spyware programs, all of which are free: 1. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware 2. Spybot Search & Destroy (Commonly abbreviated Spybot S&D) 3. Adaware Free 4. Super Anti-spyware If you don't take all of them, I would at least recommend AVG Free, along with 2 of the other programs. I recommend this because there is no such thing as 1 program that can detect all the viruses.
The best way is to get an anti-virus program, and run scans with anti-malware programs every now and then. Avast is a good free anti-virus - it uses very little RAM and is powerful enough for an everyday user. Norton 360 is highly rated and considered to be the best paid anti-virus.
You need a good anti-virus program - there are many free ones that are very good, notably Avast and AVG for Microsoft Windows based computers (only use one anti-virus program. Two running on the same system can interfere with each other). You should also use anti-malware programs. A good free one is Spyware Blaster, which prevents malware from being installed on your computer by passive settings in your browsers. There are others, some passive like Spyware blaster (passive meaning it doesn't run in the background) and active (meaning they run in the background and work in concert with anti-virus programs).
