What is a good name for a farmer?

A farmer is called by whatever name that was given to him (or her) when they were born, quite often NEVER with the word "Farmer" before it. Only city-slickers, wannabe-farmers and rural-urbanites call themselves, "Farmer ." Realfarmers or those who live in the country and have learned to never be so prejudiced or stereotypical never call themselves as such. They may in a joking matter, though, just to stir the pot a little.
