Afferent Neurons
synapsis
The insulating material produced by Schwann cells is known as myelin. Myelin forms a protective covering around nerve fibers, allowing for faster transmission of nerve impulses. This insulation is critical for proper functioning of the nervous system.
Connector neurons are specialized bipolar or multipolar neurons of the central nervous system. Connector neurons are also known as interneurons and connect sensory neurons.
Motor neurons are the efferent neuron which carry impulses from CNS to muscles while relay neurons also known as Inter neurons connect both afferent and efferent neurons.
Oligodendrocytes produce myelin in the brain and spinal cord. This process is known as myelination and the myelin will warp itself around the neurons.
Afferent Neurons
the myelin sheaths. The disease is classified as demyelinating , which is also known as the degeneration of the myelin structures in the neuron.
The neurons form the bodies nervous system.
He volunteered to lead Heyward and his group to the lake by a little known path.

synapsis
Only 10% of the cells in your brain are neurons. The rest of the cells in your brain are glial cells. Glial cells are ‘housekeeping cells’ clearing up dead neurons and foreign cells as well as waste to ensure that the signalling capacity of neurons is maintained (Hayden 2001). They also ensure the neurons stay in place. The word glial derives from the Greek word for glue.

The function of the myelin sheath is to insulate the axon of the neuron. When there are gaps in the sheath, known as nodes of Ranvier, the nerve impulse can jump from gap to gap, thus increasing greatly the speed of conduction of the nerve impulse. This is known as saltatory conduction.
