A hammer is a tool designed to hit things with. The most common ones are used to drive nails, but there are also rock hammers and ball peen hammers. They vary a great deal based on their primary purpose. Framing hammers are larger and heavier than others. They may have a 'claw' at one end designed to help remove the nails that they drive in.
The term has many forms but the most used in to mean;
