A high definition DVR upconverts non-HD content to HD. Also, it can store HD videos on it's large capacity internal hard drive. You should buy one of these.
Emerson has a DVR that is amazing and compatable.
If you would like to record high definition TV programming in high definition, yes.
I called yesterday to find out myself and I was told $16.95 per month.
You can find a high definition DVR in any electronics store that sells televisions and/or television accessories. You can also check prices online to find the best deal before going into the store.
No. High definition shows or movies requires a lot more hard drive space than regular ones. So not all have the high definition recording function.
That is entirely dependant on the built in disc space of the DVR used to store the videos. Check to see how much storage the device has. There should be a list in the manual or online at the site.
Recording High Definition programming onto your DVR will take up more room because there is more information to store; same with a digital camera or a computer file, the more information you try to store, the more room, or memory, it will take to do it.
You have the convenience to either display your programs in standard or high definition format which is a big plus if not all your channels are HD..
If you are referring to the monthly cost it would be dependent upon what type of receiver for example; high definition or standard definition, DVR capability or no DVR, single receiver or duo receiver. Currently, the charge for a additional receiver based upon capability, can cost any where from $7/mnth up to $17/mnth.
First off, I am assuming that by HD you mean High Definition, not Hard Drive. Yes, and you will probably pay less that you would for an HD DVR, but you may have to start looking at used machines to find one. Most new DVRs are HD-equipped.
In order to see the different brands of HD Dvrs, the best place to look is where it will list all of them out. DirectTV seems to have the best HD Dvrs, but there is also a brand called Channel Masters that could be considered. http://www.nextag.com/direct-tv-hd-dvr/stores-html
The following procedure may vary, depending on if you have Dish Network or DirecTv. Connect one or two tuners to the "satallite in" on your DVR. Two is necessary in order to record two shows at once. Then, if you are working with standard definition, connect a yellow composite cable as well as two RCA audio cables to the TV and DVR. If you are working with High Definition, connect a set of component cables (blue, green, red) as well as two RCA audio cables to the DVR and TV. Also, you can connect an HDMI cable to the TV and DVR, which allows for HD video and audio to your tv with one cable. For more info on these cables and what they do, go into your local electronics store. Hope this helps and good luck!
