What is an example of predecessor?

An example of a predecessor would be "Paul von Hinderburg preceded Adolf Hitler as president of Germany". Successor means that someone is succeeding you which means they are taking your place. A predecessor is someone who came before you or was in charge before you. The key in predecessor is "pre". So a fine example would be that George Bush was the predecessor of Barack Obama as president of the United States.

Who commanded the Germans in World War 1?

The leader of the German forces in World War One was the Kaiser, also known as emperor, Wilhelm II. However, the Germans had many other military commanders during the war, Paul von Hindenburg served as a Field Marshall, eventually being promoted the the Chief General of Staff halfway through the war. Another notable commander was Hinderburg's deputy commander, Erich Ludendorff, who was also promoted halfway through the war to the rank of Generalquartermaster, a rank effectively equivalent to that of Hindenburg's.

Why did Hindenburg not get along with Hitler?

Although Hindenburg was an old kaiser supporter, he was the president of the weimar republic. Hitler's aim was to overthrow such a republic in order to impose his fascist aims on Germany. These went against all that Hinderburg and the cabinet believed in, as these were trying to maintain a democratic system in post-war germany. When Hitler begins to become increasingly popular in Germany, the republic's reichstag of proportional representation becomes flooded with nazi representatives. These refuse to pass any of the motions put forward by chancellors appointed by Hindenburg, who is forced to impose his power of emergency decree often. Hindenburg refuses to employ Hitler as a chancellor as neither him or the rest of the government wish for him to have his way. However, without Hitler, the parliament filled with representatives of his party will never agree with the chancellor, never reaching decisions. In order to keep the democratic parliamentary system working, Hindenburg must find a chancellor that the Reichstag will agree with.

Why did Germany think they would win World War 1?

1. Germany had what was thought to be a hyper efficient (and much dreaded) General Staff, that is, central military planning agency. In 1866 and 1870-71 the Prussian General Staff had won easy victories against two major European powers. The General Staff was, however, obsessively technocratic and lacked broader political perspectives. This problem was exacerbated by bottomless contempt for the legitimate civilian government. Certainly, under Kaiser Wilhelm II there was rivalry between the General Staff and the government. The Kaiser himself - silly man - encouraged the view that civilians were second-class citizens. 2. The General Staff was convinced that, thanks to the Schlieffen Plan, it could knock out France within the first six weeks of the war. In the event, every key assumption in the plan turned out to be a miscalculation. 3. With a handful of exceptions, the German intelligentsia was firmly convinced of German racial superiority, and it was believed that this would be reflected in victories on the battlefield. In fairness, it should be added that the British went to war in 1914 also convinced of their racial superiorty - and both had a most unwelcome surprise! Obviously, this is only a brief summary. Did Hitler win?

first of all Hitler couldn't have won with his army and invasion routes. If he didn't invade russia and stuck to invading western Europe he could have won. The world would be much like how it is to day. Hitler would have ruled western and central Europe. but like all radicals Hitler's nazi party would give way to a more democratic government like the European union is today. the only difference is that there would be no Jews in Europe and europeans would be more equal... and possibly happier and wealthier because of the equality, and a more stable government. But Britain, Canada, and America would be in some sort of cold war with Nazi Europe and it could lead to a third war. Britain would be a lot poorer, because of the blockade with Europe... it would be as poor as Mexico or Brazil is today. Canada and th USA would be richer because industry would of never been outsourced to Korea, Japan, and China (because if Hitler won in Europe, Japan would have won in Pacific Asia). Canadians would not have a queen because Britain's queen would be long gone, and Barack Obama would have won the election years sooner... and there would be no terrorists thanks to the Nazis killing them all. Seems like a better world.... Wealthier and tighter Europe, Wealthier Americans and Canadians, no terrorism, No recession in the USA, and less hungry people on the streets because the Nazi's were all about sharing and equality. and North amricans would be so rich that almost everyone would be like a millionaire.
