Many lawyers do not have "pay rates"; they earn income from the individual cases they handle. Some lawyers do earn only salaries however those vary from state to state and area to area and firm to firm and even type of law to type of law practiced. Some lawyers have salaries but also get to share in a part of the income created by cases they bring into the firm.
