Lysosome is an organelle in a cell. Lysosomes are both in an animal cell and a plant cell. Lysosome came from the greek word "lysis" which means body, Lysosomes were discovered in 1949 by Belgian cytologist Christian de Duve. Lysosome helps digest acid in a cell so the cell can keep making more cells.
