The platypus is a freshwater mammal.

Platypuses are the only mammals that spend a great deal of time in freshwater sources, usually creeks and rivers. However, they do not live in the water, but hunt for their food in the water. They dig burrows in the banks of any of these freshwater sources, but do not live in the water.
