Manatees do not have a specific mating season. They are able to mate all year. Gestation takes 1 year, and they produce one offspring, (calf) at a time.
Manatees eat only sea grass, which is why they are called seacows.
Manatees often swim alone, but it is not uncommon for them to form groups, especially when seeking areas of warm water. Groups of manatees are called aggregations or herds.
Manatees usually have one calf every few years. Very rarely, they will have twins.
