People worked in agriculture most commonly. Other work was in food production, production, such as the production of wine, beer, cheese, baked goods and salting or curing meat and fish. People made cloth and clothing, and they repaired them as needed. People mined and refined metals. Crafts included carpentry, masonry, smithing, pottery, and such. There were specialized occupations, some most commonly done by monks and nuns, including growing medicinal herbs. Monastic types transcribed books, especially bibles. There were artists, who made stained glass, carved stone and wood, composed poetry and music, and performed music and theater. The list is pretty much endless.
Serf, smith, abbot, jester, executioner, page, and knight are the only ones that spring to mind at the moment.
