First of all, may we say with all due respect that nobody who is as unsure

of the difference between current and voltage as the poster of this question

seems to be ought to be sticking things into a household AC outlet.

In the USA and Canada, the voltage present at the outlet should be 115 to 120 VAC.

If two different meters, or one meter set to two different scales, produce different

readings, then at least one of them is defective.
