∙ 10y agoWhile poodles are thought of as the supermodels of the canine world, they were originally bred for hunting, especially in marshes and lakes. Their unusual haircuts are based on grooming that was intended to keep them warm in cold water.
Their curly, non-shedding coats are not practical, however; poodles must be groomed every 4-6 weeks to prevent injury to their skin. Therefore, only the wealthy could afford to keep such high-maintenance companions. So perhaps a cozy fireside and a velvet pillow are also a poodle's natural habitat!
