A posi rear end (positive traction) drives both rear wheels.
a posi rear end is when both rear tires spin instead of just one
no
Yes
If it was ordered with one, yes otherwise, no.
No you need a rearend from another G-Body
a 10 bolt rear posi was an option as well as ratio 3.73 was performance option
That is the ratio between the number of times the driveshaft turns in relation to the number of the times the axle(s) rotate. 4 rotations DF makes 11 rotations Axle... Posi is the way the power is applied to the wheels. Posi applies the power to both sides of the rearend
1971 El Caminos came with a coil spring, 4 link, posi and non posi 12 bolt Spicer rearend. Standard gear ratio was 3.30 unless ordered with 4.11
A posi was an option so unless it was ordered it will be an open differential, raise the back of the car off the ground, put in neutral and spin one rear wheel forward and if the other one spins also in the same direction at the same time it's a posi rearend.
most jimmy 4x4's don't have a posi rearend unless it was special ordered and you will have to measure your pontiacs rearend from hub to hub and get the length and then measure a jimmy's to see if it's the same or real close.
Not all z28s have posi, I own a 83 and I does. It have posi. But you can buy a lock and it makes it posi.
my 95 is posi !!
GM does not really have a posi-traction rearend. It is actually a limited slip, which means if the (usually) passeger side wheel spins, even a little, the other engages and spins with it. In other words both wheels are powered vs. an open rearend where only one wheel will spin.
