In general, you're describing a conhecture.
If you conduct experimentation to validate your conjecture, and your explanation appears to be valid, it rises to the level of theory. Basically all scientific "truths" are theories. Nobody has proposed a new scienrific law in wellover a century, and all "laws" of science are known to be wrong.
Science rarely advances by "scientific revolution". Instead, we recognize that existing science science is an approximation which may be useful under certain conditions, and science advances by "stepwise refinement" - that is, by making our predictions of behavior more closely approach reality.
One of the moreserious challenges to "climate change" is that the mathematical mideks which supposedly prive global warming are unable to predict the future, and if you use historical data, one cannot even preduct the pasr. It's probably a dumb move to breathe an atmosphere containing huge amounts of carbon dioxide; there are no long-term, or even medium-term stidies showing what that will do to mankind. That's a reason why so many scientists are not objecting to the global warming theorists, rather than trying to explain that no science is cut-and-dry proven.
Theory
A Theory
Both terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but "hypothesis" is more specific. It refers to a certain kind of prediction that is based on extensive research. Usually, a hypothesis will also need to explain itself. After experiments have been conducted, the hypothesis will either be supported or not supported by the results. A prediction does not necessarily require the research and support that a hypothesis needs.
Unless the prediction has been given a specific time to occur, most will eventuate because of the continued action(s) of a people,or person causing the prediction to eventually happen.
Prediction and hypothesis are kinda the same thing. Experiment is what you do to test your hypothesis or prediction.
recalling specific facts
The prediction is based on a trend line that approximates the locations of the related points.
A hypothesis and predicition r kinda alike and the experiment is the testing of the hypothesis and prediction

hypothesis
One based on statistics or facts or one that becomes a fact.
Making a prediction means making a guess for the future by given/found facts.
