use low octane, regular gas, 2 liter-4 cyl gas engine.....if you want to improve gas milage and horsepower buy a set of pulstar spark plugs....www.pulstar.com...
look up spark plug wikipedia. more surface area of spark equals more gas burnt efficiently equals more power/torque more surface area of spark equals wider spark gap which requires higher voltage to make a spark across the gap
The 2006 Honda Odyssey OEM plugs are the NGK Laser Iridium Long Life plugs, model IZFR5K11, sold at Sparkplugs.com for $12 each (expensive). All premium plugs come pre-gapped at .044" and should NOT be adjusted. These are top of the line spark plugs that will last well over 150,000 miles...I own of a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring with 53,119 miles, I wanted to check out the Pulstar plugs to see if they live up to their hype - so I replaced the OEM NGK plugs with the Pulstar BE-1, which I purchased from Sparkplugs.com $12.95ea, the total with shipping for 6 plugs it came to $87.72.The most I was hoping for was increased fuel efficiency as I've never come close to the EPA rating. Maybe increased horsepower.Well, it makes a HUGE difference. I am astonished at the increased horsepower output. There is a major difference in the horsepower and acceleration. The Pulstar plugs have exceeded my expectations. I'm now ordering some for my Honda Accord that I use as my daily driver.Owners Manual recommends the following maintenance schedule:Plugs should last up to 60,000 miles, but you should check them at 15,000 mile intervals for wear, dirt, or corrosion. If you are replacing them yourself, the auto parts supplier that you buy them from will have the correct gap in their computer.
well i have a 2000 Chevy z71 with the 323ci (5.3l) and am getting anywhere from 17 - 19 mpg on the freeway. just depends on how fast traffic will let me drive. around town it dropps drasticaly, say 10-12 mpg. i have made the fallowing modifycations- k&n cold air intake, hypertech max power programer, and new flowmaster exaust from the y-pipe back. its still getting the same mpg as stock but there is noticeably more power. still need after market MAS,throttle body, and hi flow cats. if you havent heard of pulstar spark plugs then you need to check out their web site at pulstar.com. expensive but sounds pretty promising if you want to add other after market parts to help with gas mileage. another website to check out is water4gas.com.
