Would using dry ice in your holiday punch cause it to become watery after several hours. Why or why not?
Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. at room temperature and pressure it sublimates (vaporizes). If dry ice were placed into a bowl of punch the gas would begin to dissociate from the crystalline lattice of the dry ice and rise from within the liquid punch to the air above the punch bowl. For this reason the punch bowl will empty as the ice vaporizes and no additional liquid will dilute the punch.

After the dough has risen and its all bubbly, it usually calls to "punch down" the dough meaning to punch any bubbles out of it so its easier to work with and you won't have holes in the bread once you bake it. You actually punch the dough, while its still in the bowl or when you take it out of the bowl.

To a certain extent so to does the asthenosphere (in actual fact, the asthenosphere is a highly ductile solid… Read More
