Band spectrum is the spectrum given by the molecules. It consists of series of closely spaced lines known as bands separated by the dark spaces.
Solid's because their particles are more closely spaced so the transfer of energy will be greater. Air's particles are more spaced so it takes more time for the particles to contact one another therefore the sound energy is transferred slower.
Well, for a solid, you would draw the particles close together and touching so that none of them could be moved around. For a gas you would draw them very spaced apart with none touching, and for a liquid you would draw them some where in the middle with some touching and some spaced out.
Heated matter tends to rise because it is less dense than cooler matter. This is due to the fact that warmer air molecules have more energy, and thus tend to move around and spread out. Cooler air does not move around so much, having less energy, and therefore will be more closely packed, or more dense. Because of this higher density, it will sink through the more loosely-spaced warm air particles and displace them. This results in warm air rising above cooler air.
Fault Zone
a region of numerous, closely spaced faults.
Closely spaced
Closely spaced isobars mean stronger winds, as it indicates a tight pressure gradient.
Closely spaced contour line on a topographic map shows that the land is steep.
a screw with closely spread threads
Closely spaced tectonic plates shake the Earth and closely spaced mountains make a mountan belt.
Closely spaced contour lines mean that the slope is steep.

Strong winds
a solid and a liquid
The adverb form of the adjective close is closely. It can refer to physical proximity or resemblance (closely spaced, closely related) or to careful attention (watched closely).
