Secondary Air Injection is an emissions system that pumps clean air into the exhaust of a vehicle to help lower emissions. It wont effect your fuel mileage or m ake your car blow up. It WILL turn the service engine soon light on. Most parts stores can clear the code from the system, but it is going to come back on. You can pay a dealer to try to fix it, but most likely they will take your money.

the secondary air injection system is the smog pump and valve. the valve is located on the exhaust manifold with 2 hoses leading to the smog pump which is located under the drivers side floor. it is electric.
