A skilled trade is either a mechanical or electrical job classification requiring specific skills, advanced on the job training and college or vocational classes. The specific trade is defined by job description and state and company training requirements. All workers successfully completing a state qualifying apprenticeship carry a Journeyman card. This card confirms successful completion of advanced training or State Licensing requirements. An approved apprenticeship is usually a four year training period working under a Journeyman in a specific trade and including completion of required advanced training classes. Due to the specifics in training and job requirements for each different trade, it is extremely difficult to hold two different trade Journeyman cards. Examples of a skilled trade classifications would include but not limited too:

  • Automotive/Truck Mechanic
  • Aircraft Mechanic
  • Carpenter
  • Die Maker
  • Electrician
  • Industrial Truck Repair
  • Machine Repair
  • Machinist
  • Millwright
  • Plumber/Pipe Fitter
  • Sheet Metal Worker
  • Tool & Die Maker
  • Tool Maker
  • Welding
