CT2 stands for Core Trainee 2, which means that the doctor has completed their undergraduate medical degree, two years of foundation year training (F1 and F2) and one year of specialisation (CT1) into one of a few general areas (e.g. medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obs and gynae, psychiatry). They are still considered to be an SHO, (Senior House Officer).
