Can't start 1989 Chevy Suburban with the key only by directly wiring starter is there a fuse link from the ignition wiring to the starter?
you can disconnect the starter relay and run a wire from the starter wire in the connector to the power wire on it p.s. it is easyer to take a curcit tester and probe the connectors with someone truning the ignition switch to fine the starter the starter wire is brown and im not sure about the power lead from the ignition switch
The pnp switch is short for Park/Neutral Switch. Its pretty much the middle man between the ignition switch and the starter. It only allows the current from the ignition switch to reach the starter if the vehicle is in park or neutral. Its usually connected to the shifter. Allow me to correct myself on the first answer. If the shifter is on the column it will be located in the column region. If shifters on…
Your 92 camaro wont start replaced starter and ignition switch has power but wont turn over what else could it be?
Why will a 91 Lincoln Town Car start with a screwdriver touching the solenoid but not with the key manually?
Not to bash on the last answer, but, the starter solenoid probably isn't at fault here. If it will start with the screwdriver then the starter solenoid is functioning. It either does or it doesnt. The answer lies in circuitry back from the solenoid to the ignition switch. You could have a bad ignition switch or neutral/safety switch. Answer Defective starter solenoid.

How do you remove the ignition switch on a 1979 Chevy Corvette you took the lead wire off the starter that comes from the switch and had meter on it while someone turn the key and read 0 volts?
1995 nissan240sx wont start I replaced the starter it still wont start unless I push it what could be the cause?
A no start condition can be caused by a bad battery, bad connections on the battery, bad connections on the starter or ground and possibly by a bad neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Use a test light and see if your getting fire to the small wire on the starter when someone trys to start it. If you are, the starter is not working. If you aren't, check the ignition switch and the safety…
Battery cables could be loose, battery could be bad, starter could be bad, starter solenoid could be bad, ignition switch could be bad. Turn on the headlights and try to crank the engine. If the headlights dim or go out look at the cables or battery. If they stay bright look at starter, solenoid or ignition switch. The neutral safety switch or clutch petal switch could do it too.
Why would 98 Cherokee not start turn key everything comes on no crank can jump starter terminals and wil start cleaned neutral safety switch already?
Probably not a bad ignition switch, but more likely a bad starter solenoid. It takes a lot of current to get a starter to turn, to much to go through such a small switch like the ignition switch. The ignition switch actually controls a relay(solenoid) which can handle the needed current to get the starter going. On a lot of modern cars the solenoid is built into the starter unlike older cars and trucks where…
