Brazing is actually not a method of welding as it does not melt the joint metal together. Brazing is actually much closer to soldering. It is a process that (usually) uses a gas torch and a thin brass rod to bind two (or more) pieces of metal together. Welding is done to weld materials by operating a welding machine. Many industries such as Shipyard, Robotics will be needing welding applications. The applications include extending a rod eor pipe, joining two materials etc. My brother is doing a welding course at Weldtech Training Inc at Ontario. He is very much fond of welding. It isn't. It's called soldering when you join two pieces of metals together using a 3rd metal with a very low melting point. Welding, then both the "parent" metals and the added metals are melted. Usually at a lot higher temperature.

Solder has to be heated in order to melt it for removal, usually by a soldering iron. Then the removal methods can vary. You can get a braided solder remover from a local electronics store that when applied to the melted solder will "wick up" the melted solder. Then there's the vacuum bulb or vacuum hand held solder pump that is used by placing it on the melted solder and either by releasing the bulb or tripping a lever, will literally suck the solder from the connection. Soldering is easy to learn but there are pitfalls if you're not familiar with the techniques, proper sizes of soldering irons, etc.
When any material is welded it is melted. To join two pieces the edges are melted and allowed to fuse together or a filler is added, usually of the same material.
