To prove his point of being a good man in writing stories for children.
Also because he never wrote a childrens book before so he wanted to try it. he thought it was very brave to do it because he could have lost his good reputation and lose his fans.
David Almond called his book "Skellig" because the main character, a mysterious and winged creature found in a boy's garage, is named Skellig. The name likely reflects the enigmatic and supernatural nature of the character.
The book Skellig by David Almond is About a Boy called Micheal who moves house with his family to Falconer Road. His baby sister is very ill, so most of his parents attention is always on his sister. Micheal does some exploring and finds a creature in the garage who is known as Skellig. Micheal also meets a girls called Mina, who together discover more about Skellig...
Skellig, a children's novel by David Almond, focuses on a boy named Michael, his family and new baby sister who have moved into a old house. Upon moving there, he comes across a man in the garage, who introduces himself as Skellig. Later in the story, Michael's baby sister falls ill, due to being born prematurely, and goes into surgery. Skellig visits the hospital and baby and mysteriously cures her. In the end, he is referred to as an "angel" to the family.
A boy named Michael finds this guy called Skellig in his garage. Skelligs favorite foods are brown ale, 27 and 53, and aspirin; for his squeaky voice. Michael's neighbor is named Mina and she has a cat named Whisper. They both meet each other when Mina scares Michael when he leaves his garage, after visiting Skellig. Now understand, his garage is not a garage, it is old and about to fall. Mina loves to sketch birds in her book, when she is sitting up in a large tree, in her front yard. towards the end of the book, the kids discover that Skellig has wings growing out from his shoulder blades. Michael has a baby sister named Joy, who has heart problems and, later on in the book, gets an operation done on her heart. Don't worry! She survives. anyway, Michael loves his sister so much, but gets annoyed sometimes and calls her the "stupid baby". How rude! Michael and Mina try to help Skellig's health as much as possible; since he has Arthritis. One day, the two kids move Skellig to a vacant, old house, across the street; where Skellig health improves. Now and then, they will go visit him and bring some 27 and 53 with the. If you don't know what the heck I am talking about, 27 and 53 are Chinese food numbers.
