Very few people have access to a 'click wheel' as you call it. They are not accurate and hopeless if the ground is not flat. Land must be measured very accurately if it is to be sold. A Surveyors tape made of non stretch fiberglass cloth is normally used . A Tradesman's Steel Tape (usually only 8 Metre long ) can also give accurate results. It is most important when measuring land , that the distances or lengths are 'level' distances. If the land slopes even a small amount, it is absolutely essential that all distances were measured and/or calculated as 'perfectly level' distances. Land Surveyors have special methods and special equipment to measure land. It is illegal to use land measurements obtained by unregistered Surveyors, for the purpose of putting on a Land Title. Also, steel tapes used by Surveyors are made from a very special steel alloy which does not shrink or expand with temperature variation.
Surveyors were individuals responsible for measuring and mapping out land boundaries, properties, and infrastructure. They used specialized tools and techniques to ensure accurate planning, construction, and development projects.

Duct tape was originally called Duck tape. It was green in color and used in the Military first. Generally used to tape Ammo cans shut. After WWII the tape was colored silver and used on Air Ducts during the housing boom when the troops came home. Duct tape can be used in emergency situations to repair almost anything, it can help house windows withstand hurricane winds, hold car bumper covers on and restrain prisoner's hands and feet in the event hand cuffs are unavailable.
