Tapauche, means a possum in Spanish.
A taqauche is a spirit in traditional Yaqui mythology. It is believed to be a shape-shifting being that is able to take on animal forms. The taqauche is sometimes associated with malevolent forces but also serves as a guardian spirit in some beliefs.
