But, my "all-tech's", were the guys that made the most money, and would have been the last to go. Any shop nowdays will have to hire someone who knows a bit of everything, to get their value for dollars. You get into a say, brake shop situation, well, that would promote a "specialist" attitude. Well, a "brake shop" for example, would be considered a "stepping stone" to the top. To make any kind of money, or, to achieve any kind of personal goals, or, reach the top of your fiels, I recommend learning all that you can. And, when your doing it for 8-10 hours a day, variety will become important. A specialist doen't get that. I also remember the specialists having more time to stand in the corner and "talk" about work, and the all-techs missing these meetings because they had both bays full, and a couple more R.O.'s sitting on their tool box's.
