Assuming you have a Kennedy half dollar with that date, any coin you find in change will be worth only 50 cents. All circulation half dollars dated 1971 and later are made of copper-nickel, not silver, and have no precious metal value.

If you have an uncirculated or proof 1986 JFK half, its retail value as of 12/2009 is about $3.50
