they have school everyday except Wednesday and Sunday.

the infants do Monday to Friday excluding Wednesdays (so I'm lucky enough get to hear french Cartoons all day!), and the secondary school pupils do Monday to Friday including Wednesdays, and also Saturday mornings(so don't plan a weekend away with the kids!)

L'emploi du temps scolaire is a French equivalent of 'the school timetable'. The masculine article 'le'* means 'the'. The masculine noun 'emploi' means 'use'. The word 'du' combines the preposition 'de' and the masculine definite article 'le' to mean 'of the'. The masculine noun 'temps' means 'time'. The adjective 'scolaire' means 'school'. All together, they're pronounced 'lawm-plwah dyoo taw skoh-lehr'.

*The vowel 'e' of 'le' drops before a noun that begins with a vowel or an unaspirated 'h'. The temporary nature of the drop is indicated by an apostrophe: 'l'emploi'.
