The two terms are completely different. Your "Tower" is what your actual system ( computer ) is typically reffered to.

A Hard drive is a small piece of hardware about 1 inch tall, 4 inches wide, and 6 inches long that sits in your "tower" and stores all of your information. Consider this like a gigantic floppy disk that you can not remove.

Altough these terms are completely different, many people refer to the "Tower" as the "Hard drive," as incorrect as it may be.
