There were two triumvirates. The first triumvirate was not an official group; it was a trio of men each agreeing to look after the others' interests and their own as well. The second triumvirate was an official group, whose purpose was to track down and punish Caesar's assassins. It was renewed and the three men divided the territory among themselves with each man being responsible for his part of the empire.

∙ 15y agoA triumvirate is a political alliance between 3 of the most powerful men in the Senate or in Government. The triumvirate, in theory, was supposed to provide the Empire with peace. However, it actually symbolized a pre-war condition. During the triumvirate the triumvirs would rally their troops and strengthen their power in the Senate until a war was to commence.

∙ 11y agoWell, there is not only 1 person but three that can thoroughly make a decision and not just make and impulsive decision. And it is also more likely that it will be talked out and all the details included if there's more then 1 person involved.

∙ 13y agoA triumvirate is a group of three men. The Romans appointed triumvirs for types of committee work, investigations, etc. The most well known of them is the First and Second Triumvirates which were not appointed by the senate, but were a result of power grabs.
