For windows XP, left click the start button, left click control panel, left click appearance & themes. On the left side of the window it should say mouse pointers, left click that. To left click on a Mac you need to place the Index finger (Forefinger) on the left side of the mouse and press down firmly. Similarly to right click requires the middle finger to be placed on the right side of the mouse and press down firmly. The choice of fingers used can be varied but the index and middle combination are the most common. The real question is - How do you left click on the Mac Keyboard without a mouse and with the trackpad left click preferences unchecked? I haven't been able to find out an answer outside of getting a Mac mouse.
ctrl and click left mouse button
To left hand click on a mac you can change your mouse preferences. Go to System preferences, then click 'Keyboard and Mouse'. You can then change one side of the mouse to a left click like any other Windows mouse. Also you can press control while clicking which gives you options like left click on a Windows computer does.
