The GP100 is a great revolver, but if you're backpacking in Alaska - where you could be subject to encountering bear - you would definitely much rather have the .454 Casull.

Depends on whether or not you can handle it. The .454 Casull has caused some problems for firers, who would injure their wrists when firing it, usually due to not having a secure enough hold for the recoil force of the round.

they make exceptionally well built hand guns, one of my favorite is the raging bull chambered in 454 casull
