A vandal is someone who answers or replaces good answers with nonsense, obscene remarks, and/or gibberish. In other words, vandals like to post things that have no value at all.
The Vandal Patrol is a program on the site that interested Supervisors can join.
All divisions of the Vandal Patrol require that you be a Supervisor in order to join.
The Vandal Patrol Program as we know it today was officially announced on August 18, 2008.
As of September 10, 2010, there are 180 members of the Vandal Patrol and we are constantly adding new members.
The feeling of being on the vandal patrol cannot really be described in mere words alone. Being on the vandal patrol gives that scare to vandals as soon as they see a vandal patrol member's bio page. This scare gives an edge to vandal patrol members, and just the feeling of scaring a vandal into stop vandalizing WikiAnswers, so if there had to be one word, it would have to be awesome.
The word Vandal means one who purposefully, willfully or out of ignorance destroys, damages or defaces the property or work of others. This includes both private and public property. A Vandal here in WikiAnswers is a contributor who removes, destroys or otherwise messes with a good answer. They may erase a good answer and place a bad answer. There are also other things a vandal probably could do to be considered a vandal.
You have to be a supervisor to join the Vandal Patrol because regular contributors cannot warn or expunge vandals - they can only report them. Since regular contributors do not have the power to warn a user for inappropriate behavior on WikiAnswers, only Supervisors can join the Vandal Patrol.
Vandal PatrolThe Vandal Patrol consists of supervisors who watch for people who are abusing the WikiAnswers website. They watch for advertising, spamming, and junk being posted. They look for users who violate the Terms of Use, such as when they overwrite the answers of others, use insults and foul language, or post questions that attack others. The team often catches vandals in the act and blocks them immediately. After the vandal has been blocked, the team then either repairs the damage, or flags it so that other supervisors can help fix it.
Indeed it does. Although we supervisors are unpaid volunteers on site, all our actions are for the community of WikiAnswers. Be it blocking a vandal or editing a question or answer, these are classed as community service.
You can report the question using the "report abuse" link on the top right of every question on WikiAnswers. WikiAnswer's Vandal Patrol will took into the vandalism and deal with the vandal accordingly.
Only Community Assistants are allowed to make Official Groups, such as Vandal Patrol,WIT,WikiReviewers, etc.
There is no way. You need to get past all the vandal patrol people. (about1,000,000,000) It is suicide. you will not be allowed on wiki answers again. sorry
